November 28, 2006 Dr. Kathy Bottum, Bottum completed her combined medicine/psychiatry residency at SIU (2002). She earned her medical and doctorate degrees at UI-UC (1997, 1995) and earned her bachelor’s at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich. (1985). Bottum is board certified in psychiatry and internal medicine. She is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha medical honorary society. She has received research awards from the American Heart Association (2003, 1993, 1992). Her research interests include neuroprotection and neurotoxicity related to glutamate and brain derived neurotrophic factor in depression. She has authored publications on her work. A native of Grand Rapids, Mich., Bottum is the daughter of Edward and Mary Bottum. -30- |
