Dr. Careyana Brenham joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in 2003.  She is an assistant professor of family and community medicine.  She is also the assistant residency director for SIU’s family medicine residency program.

Brenham completed a faculty development program fellowship and her family practice residency at SIU (2004, 2003).  She earned her medical degree from SIU (2000) and her bachelor’s from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1996).

She is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice.  Her memberships include the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Society of Cervical Cancer and Pathology and the American Medical Association. Her special interests are in child abuse and she serves as the medical examiner for the Sangamon County Child Advocacy Center.
