December 24, 2008 Dr. Michael J. Brenner Prior to joining SIU, Brenner completed a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in Minneapolis (2008). He completed his residency in the seven-year advanced clinical scholars program in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery and a two-year plastic surgery research fellowship at Washington University Medical School in St. Louis (2007, 2003). Brenner earned his medical degree through a seven-year honors program in medical education at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago (2000). Brenner has held leadership positions in the American Academy for Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He has received several national distinctions for his pioneering research on nerve regeneration. He has lectured widely and authored more than 50 articles, book chapters and research grants related to facial plastic surgery. He also participates in Face to Face, a humanitarian program for domestic violence victims, and with international outreach. -30- |
