June 2005 Ronald A. Browning, Ph.D., joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Carbondale as an assistant professor of physiology in 1973. He currently is a professor of physiology with a cross-appointment in pharmacology. He completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in neuropharmacology at the University of Chicago (1973) and earned his doctoral degree at the University of Illinois at the Medical Center in Chicago, Ill. (1971). He earned both his master’s and bachelor’s at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., (1968, 1963). He also served two years in the U.S. Public Health Service (1963-65). He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Society for Neuroscience, American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and the American Epilepsy Society. Browning is a registered pharmacist in Washington, D.C. and in Illinois. He has published more than 65 journal articles and holds two patents in brain injuries. His teaching interests and specialties are in pharmacology, neuropharmacology, neurochemistry and pharmacokinetics. -30- |
