Dr. Reuben Bueno Jr. has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an assistant professor of plastic surgery. His practice includes pediatric and general plastic surgery. He has special interest in adult and pediatric hand surgery, congenital hand and facial anomalies, microsurgery, brachial plexus reconstruction and facial reanimation surgery.

Bueno recently completed two one-year fellowships – in pediatric plastic surgery at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto (2005) and in hand and upper extremity surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City (2004). He completed his residency in plastic surgery at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield (2003). He earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tenn. (1997) and his bachelor’s degree from Yale University in New Haven, Conn. (1990).

Bueno is board certified in plastic surgery. His research interests include tissue engineering, outcomes studies and the molecular basis of disease.
