Peter R. Cadwell has been named chief compliance officer at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.  He serves as the regulatory and health care compliance administrator and is responsible for various compliance programs at the medical school.

Previously, Cadwell was chief financial officer and treasurer/secretary for the School’s clinical practice group, SIU’s Physicians & Surgeons (1997-2008); and director of financial operations and director of patient business services for SIU’s clinical practice plan (1986-97, 1984-86).  He also held several positions for the medical school as budget director and analyst for the management and budget office (1980-84); and director of grants and contracts and of accounts payable for its comptroller’s office (1977-80, 1976-77).

Cadwell earned his master’s and bachelor’s degrees at the University of Illinois at Springfield (1991, 1982) and a certified public accountant.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Medical Group Management Association, Association of American Medical Colleges and the Health Care Compliance Association.

A native of Springfield, he is married to Judith Cadwell.  They have two children and two grandsons.
