Christopher B. Chambers, Ph.D., has joined the faculty at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as a research assistant professor, specializing in ischemia-reperfusion injury and tissue engineering.

Chambers completed his doctorate in pharmacology and experimental therapeutics at Loyola University in Chicago, Ill. (1999). He was a postdoctoral scientist and drug discovery fellow in the molecular pharmacology department at Northwestern University Medical Center in Chicago (1998-2000).

Prior to joining SIU, Chambers was a scientist at Neuronyx, Inc., in Malvern, Pa., where he studied the use of cell-based therapies in the treatment of brain tumors.
