Cindy Davidsmeyer
has joined the staff of SimmonsCooper Cancer Institute (SCCI) at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. As the director of community support, she is coordinating all SCCI outreach, marketing and development activities as well as its external grant writing function.
Davidsmeyer previously served as press secretary to the Illinois Senate President. She started her career working on the communications staff for Senate Democrats in the Illinois General Assembly and later served as the director of communications and research.
Davidsmeyer earned bachelor’s degrees in journalism and history at Eastern Illinois University (1979). She has been a participant in Relay for Life, Race for the Cure and the AIDS walk and coordinated holiday giving for underprivileged children by the Senate majority staff.
The mission of the SimmonsCooper Cancer Institute at SIU is to serve the people of central and southern Illinois by addressing their present and future cancer care needs through medical education, biomedical research and patient service.
