Dr. Konstantin Denev Dr. Konstantin Denev portrait has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an assistant professor of pediatrics, specializing in critical care. He is one of the new pediatric specialists recruited as part of St. John’s Children's Hospital, a joint endeavor of SIU and St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

He completed a three-year fellowship in critical care, completing the last two years at Advocate Christ's Hospital in Oak Lawn, Ill., (2005) and one year at the University of Miami (2002). He also was a part-time research fellow at Chicago Medical School/Finch University (2003).

Denev completed his pediatric residency at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York, N.Y. (2002). He earned his medical degree at the University of Medicine in Varna, Bulgaria (1996).

Denev is board certified in pediatrics and a member of Society of Critical Care and American Association of Pediatrics.

A native of Bulgaria, Denev is married to Emilia Denev and has two children.
