Dr. Charles R. Ellington Dr. Charles Ellington portrait has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University (SIU) School of Medicine in Decatur as an assistant professor of family and community medicine. He sees patients and teaches resident physicians at SIU Family Physicians, located at 250 West Kenwood Avenue in Decatur.

Ellington previously was in private practice for three years and served as a volunteer faculty member for SIU's Decatur program (2000-04). He recently completed a one-year health policy fellowship at Georgetown University School of Medicine (2005), while also serving on GU's family medicine faculty where he received a teacher of the year award.

Ellington completed his three-year family practice residency at SIU Family Physicians in Decatur in 2000.  He earned a combined medicine-law degree in the dual degree program at SIU School of Medicine and School of Law (1997) and his bachelor's at University of Illinois at Urbana (1990).

He is a member of the American and Illinois Academies of Family Physicians, the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and the American College of Legal Medicine. He is co-author of "The Physician's Pocket Lawyer." His public service includes serving on the Moultrie County Board of Health.

A native of Tuscola, Ill., Ellington is married and has one son.
