Dr. Ralph Glasser
has been named chairman of anesthesiology at Southern Illinois
University School of Medicine. He succeeds Dr. Gary A. Draper who is retiring.
Glasser has held a clinical appointment with the medical school since 1984 and currently is a professor of anesthesiology. He also serves on the staff at Memorial Medical Center, St. John's Hospital and Doctor's Hospital.
Glasser earned his bachelor of science degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (1977) and his medical degree at Washington University in St. Louis (1981). He completed his residency training at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago (1984).
He is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology and a fellow of the American College of Anesthesiology. He recently was elected to the House of Delegates of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and is on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Society of Anesthesiologists, serving as vice-speaker of the house. He also is a member of the International Anesthesia Research Society.
A native of Chicago, Glasser is married to Diane Glasser and has one daughter, Sarah, 8.
