Dr. David Hartman Dr. David Hartman portrait has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an assistant professor of family community medicine in Carbondale and is based at SIU's Southern Illinois Family Medicine in Carbondale.

He was a clinical physician at Crosstrails Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo., before joining SIU. Hartman completed his residency at SIU's family medicine program in Carbondale (2004). He also earned his medical degree from SIU (2001).

Hartman earned his master's degree at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla., (1994) and his bachelor's degree at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (1983).

Previously, he was a test pilot, aircraft commander and air traffic controller in the U.S. Air Force (1985-94).

He is board certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Physicians. His memberships include the American Academy of Family Physicians.

A native of Benton, Hartman is married to Rhonda Hartman and has two children, Lindsay and Michael.
