Dr. Mei Chris Huang, Ph.D., has joined the faculty of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an assistant professor of internal medicine, specializing in gastroenterology. [Note: She is now an associate professor of internal medicine.]
Huang completed a three-year fellowship in gastroenterology at Washington University (WU) School of Medicine in St. Louis (2005) and then joined the WU faculty as an instructor in internal medicine (2006). She completed her internal medicine residency at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis (2002) and earned her medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis (1999). She completed her graduate degree as well as a postdoctorate research fellowship in molecular biology at Vanderbilt Medical School in Nashville, Tenn. (1988-95). She completed her undergraduate studies in biology at Peking University in Beijing, China.
Huang is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. Her research interests include colorectal cancer.
Originally from China, she is married to William Yu, Ph.D., associate professor of computer science at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. They have two children.
