Dr. Mark R. Johnson Dr. Mark Johnson portrait has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an assistant professor of pediatrics, specializing in pediatric pulmonology.

Previously, he was in private practice in Highland, Ill., (1997-2000) and was in-house physician at Barnes-Jewish, St. Peter’s Hospital in St. Peter’s, Mo. (1996-97) and for Glennon Care Pediatrics at hospitals in Belleville, Maryville and Alton (2003-04).

Johnson recently completed a three-year fellowship in pulmonary medicine at St. Louis Children’s Hospital (2003). He completed his pediatric residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas (1996) and earned his medical degree at St. Louis University (1993). He completed his bachelor’s at California State University in Chico, Calif. (1984).

He is certified as a diplomat by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and American Thoracic Society. He is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and North American Society of Pediatric Exercise Medicine.

Johnson’s research interests are exercise testing, childhood activity and cystic fibrosis.

A native of Los Angeles, Calif., Johnson is married to Dr. Debra Feldott-Johnson and has two children.
