Farid A. Kadyrov, Ph.D., Farid Kadyrov, Ph.D., portrait has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Carbondale as an assistant professor of biochemistry and molecular biology.

Kadyrov comes to SIU from Duke University in Durham, N.C., where he was a senior research associate in biochemistry (2003-08).  He previously was a researcher in the genetic enzymology laboratory at the Institute of Biochemistry and Physiology of Microorganisms in Russia (1992-98).

He completed a five-year fellowship in molecular genetics at National Institute of Environmental Health Science in Triangle Park, N.C. (1998-2003).  He earned his doctoral degree at the Institute of Biochemistry and Physiology of Microorganisms of the Russian Academy of Science (1997) and his bachelor’s in biochemistry at Kazan State University, both in Russia (1990). 

He has had more than 15 journal articles published about his research interest in DNA repair, replication and recombination.
