Dr. Nitin Kukkar bug has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an assistant professor of clinical surgery. He will provide orthopaedic health care at Blessing Health Center, Suite 101, 927 Broadway, Quincy. He also is a member of SIU HealthCare, the medical school’s practice group.

Kukkar has completed three fellowships in orthopaedic disciplines: most recently in spine surgery at the SIU School of Medicine in Springfield (2011); musculoskeletal oncology at Harvard Medical School (2009); and joint replacement at Columbia University Medical Center (2008). He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi (2006), where he earned his medical degree (2005).

Kukkar is a member of the Orthopedic Research Society (AIIMS) and the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. His publications include his research interest on treatment and recovery for injuries to the spine, prevention of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) via mechanical prophylaxis, and deformity correction through minimally invasive spine surgery.
