Kathleen A. Lake, M.D., has joined the faculty of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an assistant professor in internal medicine and pediatrics. [Note: She has since been promoted to associate professor.]

A native of Peoria, Ill., she earned her medical degree at SIU School of Medicine (1990). She completed both an internship (1991) and her pediatric residency (1993) at SIU. She earned her bachelor's degree at Illinois State University in Normal (1985).

Lake is certified in advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support and neonate advanced life support. Her research has focused on neonatal sleep myoclonus, shock-like contractions of a muscle; and seizures brought on by fever.

Lake is a member of the American Medical Women's Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
