Dr. Laura L. Loesel Portrait of Dr. Laura Loesel has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an associate professor of family and community medicine and clinical medical director of the SIU Center for Family Medicine in Springfield.  She is a member of SIU HealthCare, the medical school’s physician practice group.          

Previously, Loesel was associate medical director at Chicago Family Health Center (2006-11) and clinical assistant professor of family medicine at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine (2007-11).  She also was an EHR physician trainer for Epic (2004-05) and staff physician at Health Partners in Minneapolis and St. Paul (2007-11), (1999-2003).          

Loesel completed her residency in family and community medicine at Health Partners Institute for Medical Education/Regions Hospital in St. Paul (2000).  She earned her medical degree at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec (1997), her master’s at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (1990) and her bachelor’s at Kalamazoo College in Kalazamoo (1987).          

Loesel is board certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine.  She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and founding member and member of the board of directors of the McGill Journal of Medicine.
