Dr. Mark McAndrew Dr. Mark McAndrew portrait has joined the faculty at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as professor of orthopaedic surgery specializing in orthopaedic trauma.

Prior to joining SIU, McAndrew was on the orthopaedic surgery faculty and served as associate director of orthopaedic trauma at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. (1989-2002). Previously he was on the faculty at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Ark. (1985-89). Prior to that, McAndrew was on the faculty at Texas Tech University School of Medicine in El Paso, Texas (1983-85).

McAndrew completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Iowa (1983), followed by a trauma fellowship in Basel, Switzerland (1984). He received his bachelor's and medical degrees from the University of Iowa in Iowa City (1975, 1978).

McAndrew is board certified in orthopaedic surgery. He is a member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

A native of Kalona, Iowa, McAndrew and his wife, Paula, are the parents of three children.
