Dr. Jasmin McGinty
has joined the faculty at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as assistant professor in the orthopaedic surgery. She is one of the pediatric specialists recruited as part of St. John’s Children’s Hospital, which is a joint endeavor of SIU and St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She has special training and experience in general pediatric orthopaedic conditions including fractures, sports injuries, clubfoot, and hip dysplasia, with special interest in the treatment of scoliosis and limb deformity.
Prior to joining SIU, McGinty completed her fellowship in pediatric orthopaedic surgery at New York University/Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City (2010). She completed an orthopaedic surgery residency and earned her medical degree at the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville (2008, 2004). She graduated from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C., with a bachelor’s in health and exercise science (1996).
Her professional affiliations include the Orthopaedic Research & Education Foundation, the Association of Women Surgeons and the National Medical Association.
McGinty has multiple clinical and research interests include medical/surgical education and curriculum development.
