Dr. Robert S. Mocharnuk Dr. Robert Mocharnuk portrait has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an associate professor of hematology/oncology and a member of the SimmonsCooper Cancer Institute at SIU.

Most recently, he was an associate professor of medicine and previously a volunteer faculty member in the hematology division at University of Southern California (USC) Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles (2000-07, 1996-2000).

Mocharnuk also was a member of the Los Angeles Hematology/Oncology Medical Group (1996-2000) and medical director of the Cancer Detection Center at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles (2000-02).

He completed a hematology/medical oncology fellowship and his internal medicine residency at USC/Los Angeles County Medical Center (1996, 1993).  He earned his medical degree from Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock (1990).  He earned his master’s in education and his bachelor’s in English from Stanford University (1980, 1979).

Mocharnuk is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology.  His memberships include the American Society of Hematology, American College of Physicians, and American Society of Clinical Oncology.  He has authored more than 100 articles as a senior medical writer for Medscape/Web MD (1997-2003) and serves as the hematology/oncology editor for (2003-07).

A native of California, Mocharnuk is married to Erin Foley and has two children.
