Dr. Sajjad Mueed Portrait of Dr. Sajjad Mueed has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an assistant professor of neurology and director of the Stroke Center at Memorial Medical Center.

Mueed has worked as a neurologist in Normal and Urbana, Ill. and in Natchez, Miss. (2001-07).  He completed a one-year fellowship in stroke and cerebrovascular disease and a two-year fellowship in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology as well as his neurology residency, all at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield (2001, 2000, 1998).

He is board certified in neurology and clinical neurophysiology, vascular neurology and sleep medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.  He also is certified by the American Board of Sleep Medicine and American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

Mueed is a member of the American Stroke Association, American Academy of Neurology, American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, American Society of Neuroimaging and American Academy of Sleep Medicine.  He has been published in professional journals and involved in clinical research projects.
A native of Pakistan, Mueed is married to Shahana and has three daughters.
