Dr. Don Ramsey Dr. Don Ramsey portrait joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in 1979.  He is an associate professor of surgery.

Ramsey completed a fellowship in peripheral vascular surgery and his residency in general surgery at SIU (1979, 1978).  He earned his medical degree at the IU in Indianapolis (1973) and his bachelor’s at IU in Bloomington (1970).

Ramsey is board certified in general surgery and vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery.  He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Midwestern Vascular Surgical Society, Association for Academic Surgery, American Association for Advancement of Science and Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

His special interests are noninvasive vascular diagnosis, prevalence of asymptomatic carotid disease in elderly population, peripheral vascular surgery and venous disease.
