Mehrdad Saliminejad, M.D., has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an assistant professor of internal medicine, specializing in gastroenterology. He also is a member of SIU HealthCare, the medical school’s practice group.
Saliminejad has completed fellowships in the gastrointestinal/liver division at Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles (2012) and in gastroenterology/hepatology at Tehran University of Medical Sciences and Health Services in Iran (2002). He completed internal medicine residencies at USC’s Keck School of Medicine (2009) and at Tehran University (1996). He earned his medical degree at Ghazvin University of Medical Sciences in Ghazvin, Iran (1993).
Saliminejad is board certified in internal medicine. He is a member of the American Gastrointestinal Association, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Gastroenterology and the American College of Physicians. His research interests include investigation of metastatic cancer from colonoscopy.
He and his wife, Dr. Fariba Javadi, who is also an SIU physician, live in Springfield with their son.
