Dr. Kenneth Saum is an assistant professor of
cardiothoracic surgery at the Southern Illinois University School of
Medicine. He practices all aspects of cardiothoracic surgery
and has a special interest in general thoracic surgery.
Dr. Saum earned his bachelor’s degree in 1986
from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University in
Blacksburg, Virginia. He earned his medical degree in 1990
from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Saum
completed his cardiovascular and thoracic surgery residency in 1999
from the University of Maryland in Baltimore.
Dr. Saum was previously on the faculty of the
University of Maryland Medical System. He has also served two
tours of duty with the United States Army – Operation Iraqi Freedom
and Operation Enduring Freedom. He is certified by both
the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic
Surgery.
