Dr. Quincy Scott has been named director of the Southern Illinois University Family Medicine in Carbondale. He succeeds Dr. Penny Tippy, who retired in April after 28 years as director of the program.

Scott is a professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine. He has been a faculty member at SIU School of Medicine and a family physician at the Southern Illinois Family Medicine centers in Carbondale and West Frankfort since 1994. Previously, he was in private practice in Hillsboro.

He completed his family medicine residency at the SIU Family Medicine Residency Program-Carbondale (1993). He received his medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (1990) and his bachelor’s degree in physiology from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale (1985).

Scott is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. He is an American Academy of Family Physicians fellow, and serves as Osteopathic Family Medicine Director, Director of Medical Education, and Director of Student Medical Education of Kirksville Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institution.

Dr. Scott resides in Makanda with his wife, Katy Scott, a physician assistant at Shawnee Health Care in Carbondale. They have five children: Alexandra and Loren Scott, and Caitlyn, Anthony, and Carter Deuel.
