Deborah Seale
has joined the staff at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as executive director of telehealth networks and programs as well as an assistant professor of information and communication sciences. She is responsible for planning and developing the School’s telehealth network, including telemedicine services and community outreach programs.
Previously, Seale was director of development for the Center for Telehealth and Distance Education at the University of Texas (UT) Medical Branch in Galveston (2000-2001), having started the Center and served as interim director (1998-2000). Her previous experience includes working on the staffs of the East Texas Area Health Education Center (1992-2000), UT Medical Branch (1986-1992) and Texas Tech University in Lubbock
(1980-83). Seale directed or co-directed 20 telehealth projects in Texas, which received more than $10 million in outside funding.
Seale earned her bachelor's and master's degrees at Texas Tech (1980, 1985). She is a member of the Society for Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine, American Telemedicine Association and the Association of Telemedicine Service Providers. She has published 14 journal articles.
