Dr. Michael E. Seifert Portrait of Dr. Michael Seifert has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an assistant professor of pediatrics, specializing in pediatric nephrology.  He is one of the pediatric specialists recruited as part of St. John’s Children’s Hospital, which is a joint endeavor of SIU and St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  He also holds an adjunct faculty appointment in pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

Seifert completed a three-year clinical fellowship in nephrology at Children’s Hospital Boston (2010) and conducted research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.  He completed his pediatric residency at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford (2007) and earned his medical degree at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington (2004).  Seifert completed his bachelor's at Washington University (2000).

Seifert is board certified in pediatrics and board eligible in pediatric nephrology.  He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  His research interests include the role of angiogenesis in chronic graft rejection and proteinuric kidney diseases.
