Dr. William Stevens has joined the faculty at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as associate professor of surgery. He practices all aspects of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.

Prior to joining SIU, he was in private practice in Springfield (1991-2004).

Stevens completed a fellowship in research as well as his residency in general surgery and his cardiovascular residency from the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va. (1985, 1988, 1990). He earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C. (1982).

Stevens is board certified in general surgery and thoracic surgery.
