 Dr. Ayame Takahashi Dr. Ayame Takahaski portrait has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an assistant professor of psychiatry and director of the child and adolescent fellowship program, specializing in child and adult psychiatry.

Takahashi previously was an assistant professor of psychiatry at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in White Plains, N.Y. (1998-2006), where she also was director of Cornell's child and adolescent training program in Westchester.

She completed her psychiatry residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital-McGaw Medical Center in Chicago (1996). She earned her medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita (1992) and her bachelor’s at Cornell University (1984).

Takahashi is board certified in psychiatry and neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with specialty board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry. She is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and American Psychoanalytic Association.

Born in Tokyo, Japan, and raised in Topeka, Kansas, she is married to Christopher Gray and has one child.
