Linda Werner , a licensed clinical social worker and registered nurse, is an instructor of family medicine. She continues as a part-time nurse at Memorial Medical Center, where she has worked since 1994. Before joining SIU, Werner was a psychiatric nurse at McFarland Mental Health Center (2001-2003), on staff at Doctors Hospital (1993-97), and Decatur Memorial Hospital (1992-93) and a therapist at St. Monica's Center (1998-2001).

Werner completed her master's in social work at the University of Illinois at Urbana (1998). She holds a bachelor's degree in nursing from Sangamon State University (1995) and associate degrees in nursing from Parkland College in Champaign (1992) and in psychology from Richland College in Decatur (1987). She is board certified as a psychiatric and mental health nurse.
