Stephen A. Yenchko
has joined the staff at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as director of environmental safety and security. He is responsible for the School’s security, environmental health and safety areas.
Yenchko comes to SIU with 27 years of law enforcement experience. Most recently, he was an instructor development coordinator at Advanced Driver Training Services in Trooper, Pa. He spent 21 years with the Illinois State Police in various manager and supervisor positions.
He also worked as a police officer for the Baltimore County Police in Towson, Md. (1980). He began his career with the Vermont State Police in Montpelier, Vt., as a trooper (1973-1978).
Yenchko earned his bachelor’s degree at Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pa. (1973).
A native of Hazleton, Pa., he and his wife Peggy, have three children.
