Dr. Khondakar A. Hasanat has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an assistant professor of psychiatry. He also is a member of SIU HealthCare, the medical school’s practice group.
Previously, Hasanat worked at John J. Madden Mental Health Center in Hines (2005-11). He also provided psychiatric services for Milwaukee’s Department of Health and Human Services Behavioral Health Division (2002-10), Tinley Park Mental Health Center (2004-05), Kenosha VA Medical Center (2003-04), and Chicago Read Mental Health Center (2001-02). In addition, Hasanat worked for the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee (2002-03), the University of Chicago (1999-2001) and Mount Sinai Community Medical Center in Chicago (1998-99).
Hasanat completed psychiatric research and consultation liaison fellowships at Wayne State University (WSU) in Detroit (1998, 1997). He also completed his psychiatry residency at WSU (1996). He earned his medical degree from NRS Medical College in Kolkata, India (1984).
Hasanat is board certified in psychiatry with a subspecialty certificate in psychosomatic medicine. He has been published in several professional journals
