Sara A. Lopinski Portrait of Sara Lopinski has joined the staff at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as a registered dietitian in the endocrinology division of the internal medicine department. 

Most recently Lopinski was a dietitian at Hospital Sisters Health System Medical Group (2010-11) and St. John’s Hospital (1984-2010).  Previously she worked at Memorial Medical Center (1983-84) and Mercy Health Center (1980-83) and Medical Associates Clinic (1979-80), both in Dubuque, Iowa, as well as hospitals in Milwaukee and Des Moines (1975-79).

Lopinski completed a dietetic internship at Milwaukee County Institutions (1975).  She earned her master’s degree in home economics education from Iowa State University in Ames (1979) and her bachelor’s degree in dietetics from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston (1973).

Lopinski is a member of the American Dietetic Association, Illinois Dietetic Association (IDA) and Capital District Dietetic Association as well as the Dietetic Educators of Practitioners.  She has a certificate in Adult Weight Management Training as administered by the Commission on Diabetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She was named Outstanding Dietitian of the Year by IDA in 2006.

She and her husband, Jim Lopinski, reside in Springfield and have two adult daughters, Ann and Lynn.
