Dr. Mingchen Song Portrait of Dr. Mingchen Song has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an assistant professor of pulmonology and critical care medicine.  He also is a member of SIU HealthCare, the medical school’s practice group.

Song completed a three-year fellowship specializing in pulmonology and critical care medicine at St. Louis University Hospital (2011).  He completed his residency in internal medicine at St. Peter’s University Hospital, Drexel University College of Medicine in New Brunswick, N.J. (2008).  Previously Song completed a three-year National Research Service Award training fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh (2005) and a three-year postdoctoral fellowship at Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Hershey (2000). 

He earned a doctorate in respiratory medicine from Beijing Medical University (1997) and both his master’s degree in respiratory medicine and medical degree from Shanxi Medical University in China (1991, 1986).

Song is board certified in internal medicine specializing in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine.  He is a member of the American Thoracic Society, the American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
