SIU Med School Sponsors Ethnic Heritage Day for Irish Culture

An Ethnic Heritage Day celebration featuring Irish culture will be held Tuesday, March 20 at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. The event will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Pearson Museum (second floor) of the School’s main building at 801 N. Rutledge St., Springfield.

The program includes a presentation of Irish folk tales by storyteller, “Grandpa” Bill Rogers and dancing of an Irish jig by Beth Ogilvy and dancers from Ogilvy Dance Studio. They are representatives of the St. Andrews Society.

There also will be cultural displays as well as tasting of Irish foods.

Ethnic Heritage Day celebrations are held regularly to share information about various ethnic cultures. The events are organized by the SIU Diversity, Multicultural and Minority Affairs office. For more information, contact Debby Kassube at 545-7334 weekdays.
