Yoga Class for Cancer Patients Offered at Simmons Cancer Institute

Yoga classes specifically tailored for individuals who are undergoing cancer treatment or who have had cancer will begin Wednesday, July 27.  The ongoing classes, which are a part of the Side-by-Side program at Simmons Cancer Institute at Southern Illinois University, are scheduled from 10 – 11 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Cancer Institute, 315 W. Carpenter St., Springfield.

Adapted yoga classes modify the classic yoga positions from standing to seated positions, helping individuals who have less mobility as a result of cancer treatment.  Carol Dunaway, a certified Viniyoga therapist, will teach the class.

For more information, call Ellen Brotzman-DeSart at 217-545-0798 weekdays.
