SIU Fertility and IVF Center to Hold Annual Birthday Celebration
The Fertility and IVF Center at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine invites patients, families and those interested in fertility services to its fourth annual birthday celebration. The event is set for 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, September 7 at Erin’s Pavilion in Southwind Park, 4965 S. Second St. in Springfield.
“This event is our way we celebrate our families,” said Dr. Ricardo Loret de Mola, professor and director of the Center. “It’s so exciting to see the babies now growing into toddlers.”
In the last five years, more than 1,500 couples have been served by the Center, and approximately 750 babies have been born to patients of the Center.
The Center opened in 2009 to provide a comprehensive approach to finding solutions for infertile couples. The center provides evaluation and treatment options for both women and men. It is a multi-disciplinary practice for both female and male infertility. Among the treatment options are revolutionary, robotic-assisted surgical procedures, on-site surgical intervention for treatment of male infertility, ovulation induction and in vitro fertilization. Team members include faculty and staff from OB/GYN and urology, psychologists, geneticists and licensed dieticians.
One in eight U.S. couples of childbearing age is diagnosed with infertility, according to RESOLVE, the National Infertility Association.
The event is free, but registration is appreciated. Those interested can contact the Center at 545-3127 for more information.
