Christine Todd, M.D., has been named chair of the medical humanities department at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield.
08/23/2013   Simmons Cancer Institute to Provide Care in Staunton
Cancer patients living in the Staunton area have a new opportunity to receive care closer to home. A new partnership between Simmons Cancer Institute (SCI) at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton will provide onsite oncology services for cancer patients.

Academic promotions have been awarded to 17 faculty members at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. The promotions were approved this spring by the SIU Board of Trustees and are effective July 1.

06/20/2013   Hales Finds Flaxseed Reduces Ovarian Cancer Risk
Flaxseed may hold the key to reducing the prevalence and severity of ovarian cancer, according to a new study by Dale “Buck” Hales, Ph.D., professor and chairman of the Department of Physiology at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He also is professor of gynecology/obstetrics and a member of Simmons Cancer Institute at SIU.
