SIU HealthCare Presents ‘Baby Day’ with ABC NewsChannel 20

New and expecting parents and child-care providers are invited to the “2012 Baby Day,” sponsored by SIU HealthCare and ABC NewsChannel 20. The event will be held from noon - 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, at the Crowne Plaza, 3000 S. Dirksen Parkway, Springfield. More than 40 local businesses and health-care exhibitors will attend, focusing on health and lifestyle for pregnant families, babies and toddlers. Admission is $2.

Exhibitors include SIU HealthCare physicians and medical staff who will provide information on topics such as maternal-fetal medicine and pediatric primary care. SIU is again offering free 3-D ultrasounds on women who are at least 24 weeks pregnant. Appointments are required by calling Chris Smith at 545-8000.

SIU HealthCare will also provide information on pregnancy, postpartum health, infant safety and the SIU Centering Pregnancy Program. SIU’s ThinkFirst program will provide demonstrations for child-passenger safety seats. 

ABC NewsChannel 20’s anchor and reporter, Marianne Manko, will meet and greet attendees. A raffle will benefit the March of Dimes. The event also features a fashion show for toddlers and expecting mothers.

SIU HealthCare has more than 250 teaching physicians as well as other medical professionals, offering both primary care and specialized treatment services.
