SIU Medical School Names Student Class Officers
Medical students at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield and Carbondale have been elected to leadership positions as officers, representatives and committee members for the 2012-13 school year.

Established in 1970, SIU School of Medicine assists the people of central and southern Illinois in meeting their health needs through education, patient care, research and community service. Its website is www.siumed.edu and its main number is 217-545-8000.
SIU School of Medicine Class of 2013 Officers
● Amelia E. Frank, daughter of Dr. Stuart Frank and Dr. Amber Barnhart of Springfield, was elected chair of the senior class.
● Jeffrey A. Hassenflug, son of David Hassenflug of Edwardsville and Kathy Hassenflug of Glen Carbon, was elected vice-chair of the senior class.
● Emma R. Volkman, daughter of Phillip and Barbara Volkman of Ashland, was elected secretary of the senior class.
● Nino Cavataio, son of Vince and Cathy Cavataio of Staunton, was elected treasurer of the senior class.
● Dhara R. Patel, daughter of Ramesh and Madhu Patel of Edwardsville, was elected as senior class representative to the student general assembly.
● Stacy A. Jefferson, daughter of Andrew and Mary Jefferson of Normal, was elected as senior class representative to the student general assembly.
● Thomas D. Selby, son of David and Kathe Selby of Dundas, was elected as a member of the Organization of Student Representatives.

● Brittany E. Obert, daughter of John and Michelle Obert of Quincy, was elected to the community service committee and to serve as volunteer coordinator for the class.
● Joshua Billington, son of David Billington of Hillsboro and Ronda Billington of Bingham, was elected to serve on the educational policy committee.
● Anton “T.J.” Grasch, son of Anthony and Holly Grasch of Springfield, was elected to serve on the information management policy committee.
● John V. Horberg, son of Kurt and Deb Horberg of Cambridge, was elected to the library advisory committee.
● Lauren E. Thompson, daughter of Stephen and Barbara Thompson of Peoria, was elected to the parking committee.
● Amanda Velazquez, daughter of Rudy and Nancy Velazquez of Oak Park, was elected to serve on the student progress committee.
● Jonathan T. Balagna, son of Terry and Mary Balagna of Forsyth, was elected to the traffic appeals committee.
● Marshall Holland, son of Todd and Nancy Holland of Mendota, was elected to the Year 4 curriculum committee.
● Mara Horwitz, daughter of Michael and Joan Horwitz of Ottawa, was elected to the Year 3 curriculum committee.
