SIU Med School Announces Dell’Era Scholarship Awards
Three medical students have received scholarship awards at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.
The awards are given annually to students in good standing who are currently enrolled in the School’s MD/JD program, which awards combined degrees in both medicine and law.
Moss, of Rexburg, Idaho, earned his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University-Idaho (2006).
Rebeiro, daughter of Dr. Reena Camoens of Nashville, Tenn., earned her bachelor’s degree from Purdue University (1997).
Weitzel, daughter of John and Karen Wardwell of Hamilton, earned her bachelor’s degree from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (2008).
The Joe and Irene Dell’Era Scholarship was established in 1996 with funds from the Dell’Era estate to recognize their sense of pride about SIU and its tremendous asset to the region. Joe Dell’Era owned and operated Herrin Realty and Insurance Agency and later the Dell’Era Insurance Agency in Herrin.
