SIU Med School Sponsors Ethnic Heritage Day for Scottish Culture
An Ethnic Heritage Day celebration featuring Scottish cultures will be held Wednesday, November 14 at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. The event will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Pearson Museum of the School’s main building at 801 N. Rutledge St., Springfield.
The program includes a presentation, “Sports of Scotland,” by Bill Rogers; a band trio consisting of pipes and tenor and snare drums; and a demonstration of Scottish and Irish dances by Beth Ogelsby. Foods from the Scottish culture also will be offered.
Ethnic Heritage Day celebrations are held regularly at the medical school to share information about various ethnic cultures. The events are organized by SIU’s Diversity, Multicultural and Minority Affairs office.
