SIU School of Medicine Offers Free Car Seat Inspection and Safety Fair

The 4th annual free car seat inspection and health fair event, “Spring into Safety: Honor Mother’s Day with Safe Children,” will be held 1:30 – 4 p.m., Friday, May 10, at County Market, 210 E. Carpenter Street, Springfield.                            

ThinkFirst, an injury prevention program offered by SIU School of Medicine in Springfield, will have safety specialists on site to provide free car seat inspections. SIU staff and medical students will provide information on safe homes, bike helmets, and healthy eating. Free bike helmets will be offered to pre-K children who are present while supplies last. 

This event is sponsored by SIU School of Medicine’s ThinkFirst program and the Department of Family & Community Medicine, Illinois Department of Transportation/Division of Traffic Safety, Illinois Secretary of State’s Office and County Market. 

ThinkFirst is funded by SIU School of Medicine and a federal grant provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the U.S. Department of Transportation, and administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
