“Denim & Diamonds” Cancer Institute Event Supports Research and Patient Comforts
Simmons Cancer Institute at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine is hosting its 13th annual “Denim & Diamonds” fundraiser Saturday, October 12. The funds raised will support innovative research projects and enhance patient comforts. More than 90 percent of the funds raised at the event stay local.
Guests at Denim & Diamonds are encouraged to dress in their finest denim or formal attire for the event, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 3000 S. Dirksen Parkway, Springfield. This year’s theme is “An Evening of Partners in Hope.” Tickets are $125 per person or $1,250 for a table of 10 and available by calling 217-545-2955.
Touch-pad bidding will again be available for the silent auction, which will provide greater convenience and processing speed. Both the live and silent auctions feature impressive items, including gourmet dinners, sporting event tickets, original artwork, vacation homes, one-of a kind jewelry, and much more. Besides the auction, the event will feature live music by Brooke Thomas and the Blue Sons of Springfield and an elegant sit-down dinner. For the first time, there will be a treasure chest, offering one-of-a-kind items for a set price.
