SIU Med School Sponsors Spanish Ethnic Heritage Day

An Ethnic Heritage Day celebration featuring Spanish culture will be held Wednesday, July 9, at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. The event will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Pearson Museum of the School’s main building at 801 N. Rutledge St., Springfield.

The program includes a presentation, “The History, Culture and Composition of Spain” by Robert Patino, J.D., director of the Office of Technology Transfer. Foods from Spanish cultures also will be offered.

Ethnic Heritage Day celebrations are held regularly at the medical school to share information about various ethnic cultures. The events are organized by SIU’s Diversity, Multicultural and Minority Affairs office.
