SCCI Patient Services
First floor –
- There are two large clinics for treating general cancers as well as thoracic cancers, colorectal, lung, prostate and urological cancers, and head and neck cancers plus a total of 23 exam rooms and four procedure rooms.
- The clinics have special facilities and equipment for on-site biopsies as well as other lab services. Medications for chemotherapy are prepared in a separate area that is vented and pressurized.
- There are twenty chemotherapy/infusion stations, including two private suites each with a hospital bed and six semi-private stations. Each faces an outside window with an expanded area for family.
- A Patient and Family Learning Resource Center will be available to families. The entire building has wireless internet. There is a small café available.
- A large, central conference room will be used by the various cancer care teams to meet and discuss cases and to determine the best treatment options. These meetings will occur at noon and will be followed each afternoon by clinic visits to present treatment plans to patients. The multi-purpose conference room seats up to 75 and also will be available for support group meetings and educational programs.
- First-time patients will be able to pre-register and get insurance authorization for chemotherapy, tests or procedures. They also will have access to the American Cancer Society's Patient Navigator Services. Volunteers will be available to guide patients to their appointments.
Second floor –
- The Women’s Health Care Cancer Center will provide treatment for breast cancer and other gynecological cancers including biopsies done on site. There are nine exam rooms and a mini-procedure room, as well as a separate entrance for privacy. A radiologist will be on site at all times and diagnostic imaging for X-ray, mammograms and ultrasound will be available from Memorial Medical Center.
- An office for Breast Cancer Network of Strength support group provides a base for the program’s services.
- Offices for the Cancer Research and the Clinical Trials teams are located on the second floor. Clinical trials, also called research studies, test new treatments or compare new treatments to standard treatments to find better ways to prevent, screen, diagnose and treat cancer. Clinical trials are one of the final stages of a long and careful cancer research process.
Third floor –
- Translational research laboratories will be developed on the third floor.
