SIU Med School Offers Diabetes Talk

In recognition of November being American Diabetes Month, a health seminar titled “Diabetes News You Can Use” will be offered this month in Springfield as a community service by Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.  The program is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, in the South Auditorium, which is located on the second floor of the medical school’s main building at 801 N. Rutledge, Springfield.

The program will cover working with a health care team for diabetes control, newer insulin, controlling blood sugars after meals, diet and exercise, and foot care for diabetics.  Presentations will be given by several SIU faculty members including Dr. Romesh Khardori, professor and chief of endocrinology; Amy Olson, R.D., instructor in internal medicine; Brenda Michel, R.N., Dr. Anupam Srivastva, an SIU fellow in endocrinology, and Dr. Osaretin Idusuyi, assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery.  The program with be interactive with opportunities for questions.

Parking is available just north of the 801 N. Rutledge building -- turn into the parking area, which is west off Rutledge at Dodge.  Enter the building on the north side (near the large flagpole) and take the elevator or stairs to the main lobby and cross over the outdoor courtyard to the auditorium and museum.
