Two SIU Med School Employees Honored

Southern Illinois University School of Medicine has honored two civil service employees for exemplary work. Judy Armstrong has been named supervisor of the year. Sean Trammell has been named civil service employee of the year. Both were recognized during the School's employee recognition activities this spring.

Armstrong is a reimbursement coding specialist in the SIU Physicians & Surgeons coding unit, having joined SIU in 1998. Her nominators said she "gives employees ongoing support…creates an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation…and is very understanding and compassionate, balancing the needs of the individual with work center requirements." Armstrong lives in Auburn and is the daughter of Helen Aymer of Pawnee.

Trammell was selected from the 12 employees of the month named during 2003. He is a computer support specialist in the surgery department, having joined SIU as a trainee in 1999. His nominators said that his "abilities and attentiveness to duties go off the chart…a call for assistance never goes unheeded…and faculty and staff alike commend Sean on his timeliness and human relations skills." Trammell is the son of Marion Hitchens and Gary Trammell, both of Springfield.
