SIU Med School Offers Facial Cosmetic Procedure Seminar

The latest options in facial cosmetic surgery procedures are the topics of a free educational seminar sponsored by Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. The 90-minute event starts at 5 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, at The Plastic Surgery Institute, which is located in the Baylis Medical Building (third floor), 747 N. Rutledge St., Springfield.

Dr. Nicole Zook Sommer, assistant professor of plastic surgery, will begin the program with a brief overview of the subject. She also will discuss noninvasive facial cosmetic procedures including chemical peels, laser, BOTOX®, collagen and fat injections.

Dr. Brad Wilhelmi, assistant professor of plastic surgery at SIU, will discuss treatments for the forehead, eyes and nose (5:30 p.m.). Dr. Elvin Zook, professor and chair of SIU's plastic surgery division, will discuss facelifts and chin and neck procedures (5:45 p.m.).

The SIU surgeons and nurses will be available to answer questions. Light refreshments will be served. Participants may attend one or all sessions.

Individuals are asked to register for the event in advance by calling Carol in SIU's Department of Surgery at 545-7133 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Parking is available in the adjoining parking garage off Miller Street.
